Speed
The IAM isn't a "cloth cap" brigade that potters along at a steady pace. Advanced drivers aim to have the correct speed at all times. This means that they can stop in the distance that it can be seen to be clear, taking into account what can reasonably be expected to happen – perhaps a pedestrian crossing the road or roadworks just round that corner.
Whilst advanced drivers aim to drive at the ‘correct’ speed at all times, they look to "make progress" at the legal speed limit, where it is safe and appropriate to do so. We do not condone speeding, but see nothing wrong with driving briskly but safely.
